Abstract: Water scarcity has increased globally in recent decades due to climate change, severe droughts, population growth, increased demand, and insufficient management. Along with the water shortage, the most concerning aspect is the inadequate water storage system. Water’s chemical and microbiological purity may be jeopardized due to seepage, leakage, and corrosion. Identifying potential risks from alternative water supplies and distribution practices is critical for developing short-term and long-term storage and mitigation programs to avoid microbiological and chemical contamination of stored water. Proper storage and mitigation techniques can reduce the dangers of these practices. This article discusses the storage techniques that could be used to keep water safe and contaminant-free.
