We are thrilled and honoured that our Pakistan research team’s research into the New Electric Vehicle ultrasonic welding techniques, lead by Dr. Saad Khan has been covered by the iconic Nature Magazine. We break down the key features of the research below. Africa New Energies research team is looking for ways to improve the state […]
Honored to attend Gazza Shiimi’s address at the Global African Hydrogen Summit! It was a powerful opportunity to represent Africa New Energies (ANE) and participate in the clean energy conversation in Namibia, a country that holds immense potential to lead Africa’s energy transition. While hydrogen was the main focus of the summit, Gazza – an […]
Abstract: The threat of climate change has induced the energy markers and dictated the focus for transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. Solar, and wind are intermittent sources, therefore, there is a need to extend the range of renewable sources to consider biomass to deal with storage, seasonality, and intermittency issues. This paper discusses biomass’s efficiency, dispatchability, and cost-effectiveness for the African region grid and a baseload solution for off-grid installations in remote areas.
Abstract: Supercapacitors (SCs) are a technology that assists in developing solutions to the rising energy demand that is a growing challenge today. The primary motivation for the latest technological research is the inevitable depletion of fossil resources. It is pertinent to mention critical challenges in this study, like how the generated energy would be conserved, its efficiency, and how to reduce environmental problems.
ABSTRACT: The world’s population is growing, and development is expanding quickly, which has increased the demand for energy supplies. Developed nations have incorporated renewable energy sources into their policies for a sustainable future. Alternative and renewable kinds of energy have been developed due to the growing concerns about the sustainability of our world. One example is the creation of biogas using waste (such as sewage sludge, forest residues, agroindustry, and food processing). It is mainly composed of methane and carbon dioxide.
Abstract
Water scarcity has increased globally in recent decades due to climate change, severe droughts, population growth, increased demand, and insufficient management. Along with the water shortage, the most concerning aspect is the inadequate water storage system. Water’s chemical and microbiological purity may be jeopardized due to seepage, leakage, and corrosion. Identifying potential risks from alternative water supplies and distribution practices is critical for developing short-term and long-term storage and mitigation programs to avoid microbiological and chemical contamination of stored water. Proper storage and mitigation techniques can reduce the dangers of these practices. This article discusses the storage techniques that could be used to keep water safe and contaminant-free.
ABSTRACT – Fossil fuels are the major resource used for worldwide energy generation. The use of fossil fuels is undesirable due to the limited resource availability, production of greenhouse gases, and global warming during energy generation processes. Therefore, renewable energy sources are the world’s major focus for the next energy resource. These are highly abundant and pursue excessive energy content. The renewable sources for use in off-grid energy systems, including solar PV, hydropower and wind energy, are discussed in this paper. Off-grid energy systems are the systems that are disjoint from the power distribution grids and have their own generation and storage mechanisms. The energy generation techniques through renewable sources for remote and isolated areas in an off-grid scheme are reviewed. The energy consumption sectors of the rural and isolated areas are reviewed, which take energy from the local off-grid systems.
Abstract – The availability of cost-effective and environmentally friendly electricity to the entire population is a prime concern of the South African government. It has brought attention to microgrid projects, especially when rural population is considered properly. To address the energy needs of any country, the focus line should be the cost and availability of local resources. Due to the abundance of coal reserves and lack of alternative resources, coal dependence cannot be overlooked in the near future.
Abstract – Network Operating Center (NOC) is a centralized location used by large enterprises to monitor their network for sustainability. This study proposes a robust design of mesh NOC that utilizes Raspberry Pi as a central monitoring and control unit performing different tasks, including Network Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring, Logging and Network Offloading. Real-time testing of the system under dynamic load was performed. The system was robust enough to maintain standard QoS levels by performing offloading techniques.
